Silken Windhounds since 1998

About The Author

I introduced the Silken Windhound to Europe in 1998, bred the first European litter in 2001, co-founded the International Silken Windhound Society (ISWS) in 1999, co-founded the Swedish Silken Windhound Club (SSWK) in 2005.

But that is only part of the story

Before dogs became a major part of my life, I spent many years working in information technology, documentation and information management. My professional background taught me how to collect information, verify sources, preserve records and make complex subjects understandable to other people.

Those skills eventually found an unexpected second home in the Silken Windhound community.

For almost 30 years, I have collected photographs, documents, pedigrees, articles, correspondence and personal accounts related to the breed’s history. Much of the material on this website comes from archives that no longer exist online, private collections, conversations with breeders and owners, and records preserved before they disappeared.

For me, breed history is about more than registrations, pedigrees and show results.
It is also about people.
And the events that became milestones along the way.

The people who took chances on a new breed, imported the first dogs into new countries, built communities, shared knowledge and created the foundation that later generations inherited.

This website exists because those stories matter.

If they are not preserved, they eventually disappear.
Without preservation, future generations of breed fanciers will lose important parts of the breed’s early history.

My goal is not only to document the history of the Silken Windhound, but also to preserve the memories, experiences and context that helped shape the breed’s journey from a small American breeding project to a worldwide community.
