Omni, 11 years old

Omni was one of the first 3 Silkens that came to Europe in 1998<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together with Nuna<\/a>, she stayed in Germany for 6 months to become a “EU-dog” in order to avoid Swedish quarantine<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omni was very different from Nuna. She looked different, very much the proto-Silken, her mother was a Longhaired Whippet\/Windsprite. Nuna was already the sighthound type we think of when we talk about Silken Windhounds today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omni was chosen for several reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was small (49 cm\/19.3 inches) at a time when most of the Silkens at Kristull Ranch were a lot bigger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omni was also one of the very few that was not a dark brindle. She was what we used to call “cream” at the time. Little did we know about color genetics in those days \ud83d\ude04 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

White dogs were still far away, there was only one at the time when Omni was chosen to go to Europe and that was Kristull Nobunny<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omni was a goofy clown, a very happy dog that loved everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And she was feerless. I’ve seen her, little itty bitty Omni, just staring down and walking down a super aggressive Rottweiler bitch that came for Omni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She loved to think she ruled the pack here at home but nobody was afraid of Omni, she tried to “keep them in control” but nope, the others did not listen to her. Omni was a little busybody \ud83d\ude02<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omni loved her kids and clearly gave them preferential treatment even when they came back for visits as adults. But she had very little interest in puppies that were not her own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omni had 2 litters, a total of 6 puppies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, Omnis line can be traced through multiple generations, with documented descendants extending at least 15 generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
