Nuna
Kristull Annunciata
August 1 1997 – December 16 2000
Kristull York X Kridoni’s Bengala

The two of them stayed in Germany for the 6 months required to become “EU-dogs” and avoid quarantine in Sweden.
Nuna took me by storm
When Nuna and Omni arrived at Arlanda airport from Germany, it was the first time I ever met a Silken Windhound in real life.

I got down on one knee, peered into the gate of the huge crate Omni and Nuna came in (both dogs together, in a Borzoi sized crate) and stared into the eyes of Nuna, those eyes were the first (and only) thing I saw. I fell in love!
That infatuation has never left me since.
The girls had stayed with Edith, a Borzoi breeder in Germany.
She came with them to Sweden.
As we sat in my kitchen that evening, looking at the two bewildered girls huddling together in a corner, I thought to myself – why have I spent the last 15 years with the wrong breed? After all, I always thought Borzoi (my first breed) was the ultimate breed on the planet!
Now, almost 30 years later, I have still not changed my mind, although I love Borzoi, they are no match to Silken Windhounds.
Nuna was not only a radiant beauty, but also the Sighthound personified.
Noble, kind and a formidable hunter.
That is how I remember Nuna, the Huntress, seeing everything, hearing everything,
never missing anything around her.
Unfortunately I lost Nuna much too young to AIHA, Autoimmune hemolytic anemia.
She was meant to be the center piece of the European breeding program, setting type.
The plan was to breed Nuna the next time she came in season, now there was sadly never any offspring from her.
That mission was now to be secured by the “back up girl” Omni.
See more about how the oldest line of European Silken Windhounds still began in Sweden.
After I lost Nuna I said it would be the work of a lifetime to make the Silken Windhound breed a little more like her. Today they are.
But there will never be another Nuna…
